Starting earlier than usual, the daily program is complex.
The means of transportation for the day is a tuk-tuk, a motorized rickshaw. Sabina, the tour guide, and I take a seat and off we go.
First, we head to a huge hall where hundreds of tourists are waiting to get a day pass to visit the temple complex. We don't have to wait long and thanks to the tour guide, we can continue the journey, equipped with a light ticket that allows us to visit the temple complex all day.
Next, we go to the eastern entrance of Angkor Wat; however, thousands of tourists have the same goal. I don't want to describe the temple complex, anyone who wants to know historical details can look them up. That's what the internet is for. It's amazing. After Angkor Wat, we go to the jungle temple, which impresses us even more because it gives us an impression of how the complex was found in the late 19th century.
Afterwards, we have a wonderful lunch at an authentic Cambodian restaurant and then continue to the Angkor Thom complex. The daytime temperature has far exceeded 30 degrees Celsius. But before that, we visit the monastery, where Sabina and I receive the blessings from a monk. It's very exhausting because we have to be on our knees the whole time and very wet because the monk sprays water on us during the blessing prayers. Unfortunately, there are only videos of this, which cannot be posted here.
Please enjoy the pictures of the day, it really is the highlight of the trip.
Lastly, we take a boat trip nearby. Unfortunately, the photographer is once again unwell and we end the trip earlier than planned and spend a late afternoon at the hotel pool.
