The last evening started ominously, a relapse threw the photographer onto the sickbed. Malaria outbreak ? Dengue fever ?
Fortunately, there was a slight improvement in the morning.
We spent the morning taking a walk through downtown Luang Prabang. The city has many buildings from the French colonial era, really beautiful, and numerous cafes have been set up on the ground floor of these buildings, giving it a little French flair. There are also many French tourists, and you can almost feel like you're in Paris.
Then we head to the market, mainly vegetables, but also rice in every variation. But then comes the meat section:
Musk rats, frogs, tadpoles, dung beetles and other delicacies were offered. Mainly Chinese buyers. Then the egg stall. Pink duck eggs that are buried in the ground for a long time. When cut open, they are deep black and stink, a Chinese delicacy. We've had enough and return to our hotel oasis.
At noon, we are picked up and taken to the airport, where we check in for the flight to Siem Reap. We say goodbye to the charming tour guide and off we go to Cambodia.
At the airport, we are picked up and taken to our hotel, a truly enchanting area right by the river. Afterwards, we take a walk through the markets of this tourist hotspot and along the river with beautiful buildings. With this splendor, one forgets how poor this poorest country in Southeast Asia really is. A meal on the terrace of the hotel completes the day.
