Riding 28.10.18

The past few weeks have been relatively uneventful, which is why I haven't written anything in a long time. Now I have been in Australia for 3 months, incredible.

On Sunday, I actually went riding for the first time in Australia. And I was with Sophie again and we were picked up from the train station by Rainer, her acquaintance, who we were also with at the horse riding competition, and then we drove to Jamie, one of his riding students.

When we arrived there, we started getting the horse ready. Since I only brought my riding pants from Germany, I still needed boots, a helmet, and gloves. I quickly found a helmet and gloves, which I could borrow from Rainer. However, the boots were hard to find, I tried on at least 5 pairs of Jamie's boots, but unfortunately, my calves were too thick for all of them :D. Then I tried on Rainer's boots, although my calves fit in them, the rest was 5 sizes too big. In the end, I just put on Jamie's ankle boots, and that worked too.

First, Rainer rode, then it was my turn. It was quite weird to sit on a horse again after 3 months, but it was a really great feeling. The horse was really well-behaved and after I got used to it a bit, I managed quite well. Rainer gave me instructions all the time and was really strict with me.

After half an hour, I was out of breath and then it was Jamie's turn. Jamie praised me and said that the horse was nice and relaxed. She said that I could come by more often :D. After Jamie was done, I even got to ride again to cool down.

After unsaddling and washing the horse, we went into the house and had some cake.

It was a very beautiful and successful day. And unfortunately, it was also the last day I did something with Sophie, because she will be flying back to Germany in a week, but it was definitely a successful ending.
