4.01.2018 Temples, Monks, and Streetfood

Today we had a relaxing day. We met with a tuk-tuk driver in front of our hostel at 9:00 a.m. for a temple tour in Ayutthaya. We spent a total of 2.5 hours and visited 5 temples during this time. The most fascinating temple was Wat Ya Chai Mongkhong. It is large and surrounded by a beautiful garden that invites you to sit and relax. Animals are also very welcome here :-) The temple was built in 1357 on the orders of King Ramathibodi I.
After the tour, we decided to take a nap in the park near Wat Maha That Temple. Since it was very hot, we lay down in the shade and enjoyed the sweet idleness.

In the evening, we visited the night market. It is big and the vendors offer all kinds of things. While the adults prepare food, the children serve the customers or sleep on a mat on the floor between the cooking pots. It's a bustling atmosphere and a different smell greets us at every corner. With full stomachs, we are now back at the hostel and looking forward to tomorrow's journey to Phitsanulok.
