28.02.2020 from Manzanilla to Pilon
After a sparse breakfast of omelette and jam, we continue our journey, our destination is the Desembarco de Gramna National Park. It was once the landing point for the revolutionaries led by Commander Fidel and is dedicated to this event. Admission to the park is 5 CUC and admission to the museum is also 5 CUC. There are three pictures and three artifacts on display, we take our time to see them. The hike to the landing point takes us through the mangrove forest, 1.3 km to the bridge and back again. The only exciting part is the path through the mangrove forest. The house of the man who facilitated the revolutionaries' landing at this location is also depicted. And we see our first snake. We continue driving through the NPA until we reach the lighthouse, where there is supposed to be good and very affordable food, but the restaurant is too loud, we can't even hear ourselves speak.
On the way back, we promised the English-speaking park ranger that we would give her a ride, and she quickly jumps on the road when we pass by again. But not only that, she also invites a friend without asking and warns us not to pick up people.
The car's tank is half full, so we take every opportunity to refuel, but in Pilon, they only provide 5 liters per car. We take what we can get. The last 10 km to the resort are very rough, we drive under 20 km/h. The resort is suffering from the rainy weather, and so are we.
