England June 2017 - Second day in Whitby

ຈັດພີມມາ: 14.05.2018

After a rather restless night in a very uncomfortable bed and quite a lot of noise, the new day finally greeted us with sunshine! So we set off on a new day and started it with a nice walk overlooking the sea. The famous bones of a whale's jaw, shaped into a gate, were of course also not to be missed.

With the beautiful weather, we were also drawn down to the beach and the harbor promenade. It looks completely different in good weather! Finally, a little holiday mood could arise. Today was our last day but better late than never...

After strolling through the city for a while, we reached the stairs with 199 steps that led up to the Abbey. From the top, we had a beautiful view of Whitby. And the Abbey was also impressive. One should definitely not miss a visit when in the area :) You can also take audio tours there, but we didn't.

On the way back down, it unfortunately started to rain heavily again. But we were able to save ourselves just in time in a tea shop and treated ourselves to a delicious cake there!

Since we learned from the previous evening, we had dinner quite early today. We found a nice shop called 'Humble Pie and Mash'. A trip to Whitby would already be worth it just for this shop! It's done in the style of the 1940s, and it's really well done. And the pies there... simply heavenly! Really delicious! Highly recommended :)

In the evening, we took a boat trip along the coast. The wind was quite fresh, but the view was beautiful. We had hoped to spot some dolphins or seals, but unfortunately there were none to be seen that evening.

Nevertheless, the tour was very nice and a great conclusion. Because already tomorrow we would make our way back to Germany. Which in this case, I have to say, did not trigger any great sadness in me :D For the first time, I was quite happy to go back home. The weather there was much better and our little bed was waiting for us :D
