53. Stage 'Konaev, Kazakhstan'

On my way to Almaty, I made a stop in Konaev. I will stay here for two nights. Konaev is located by the Kapshagay Reservoir. After settling into my accommodation, I went to the beach, which is just a few meters away from me. The reservoir is huge, and there is a view of the (seemingly) not very distant snow-capped peaks of the Tian Shan mountain range. A very picturesque backdrop, if it weren’t for the litter scattered around, as is the case in many other places.

After my return, I wanted to do some shopping and go out to eat. When I asked where I could find a nearby supermarket or restaurant, my landlady informed me that her husband would drive me for €4. I gladly accepted this offer.

I spent the evening primarily planning my return journey through Kazakhstan (sections of the route, overnight options, ATMs, gas stations, etc.), and not to forget, the Buli.
