In the morning, while having breakfast deep in Finnish Lapland, the radio is playing. And what do we hear - Aber dich gibt's nur einmal für mich by Die Flippers. That already makes the day almost won.
Today was just as we expected - cool and somewhat lonely. It was good that the route could be divided into three stages. In the morning, we rode to Inari and visited Siida, the museum on the history of the Sami people. The development and life of the indigenous population is depicted in interesting pictures and many examples. The representations of the flora and fauna in Lapland are also very interesting. Otherwise, Inari has little to offer.
In the afternoon, we continue cycling to Ivalo, the administrative center of the region. Here, too, functional buildings and no atmosphere. At the grill, where we eat something, we see the last minutes of the ice hockey game Finland against Germany, with the Germans just scoring the 4:2.
There is another pretty steep climb until we reach the winter sports resort of Saariselkä. There is not much going on at this time of year and the 'village' does not meet our expectations of a winter vacation spot. We are glad to find a warm accommodation.
The movie tip: Zugvögel nach Inari with Joachim Krol - particularly valuable for travelers to Finland and train enthusiasts.
