Amanda Werheid: Addendum 'Anything for TimTams!'

ຈັດພີມມາ: 02.11.2019

After we had a break from our tour, we went to our farewell dinner at the Baci restaurant. Before the dinner started, Ms. Wawer and Ms. Wolter told us to bring a pen, but nobody knew what for, and, of course, most of us forgot. So we had to stop at a 7/Eleven to buy pens. Since we didn't have much time left, we had to run to arrive on time (which we actually did, surprisingly!). At the restaurant, we had the choice between Pizza, Fish & Chips, Spaghetti Bolognese, Calamari Fritti, and Beef Burger. After the tasty meal, we all had fabulous ice cream by the river, and there we finally found out why we had to bring pens. We all received a big postcard on which we wrote our names and everyone had to write something nice about the journey and the person whose name was on the card. In the end, we all had many little memories on a piece of paper of our time together here in Australia, which we will hopefully never forget. On our way back to the hostel, we made another stop, but this time to buy TimTams. The people must have thought we were crazy. I bought 9 packs of TimTams, and I only stopped because I was afraid that more wouldn't fit in my suitcase. Back at the hostel, we packed our stuff. It was a big mess, so messy that Ms. Wawer took a photo of our room because she just couldn't believe what it looked like.

The last night of our journey, we were allowed (for the very first time) to sleep as long as we wanted because we didn't have to leave our room until 10 o'clock in the morning. But we were pretty nervous and also sad to leave, so we didn't sleep much.

In the morning, we had a lot of time left until our bus arrived to take us to the airport, so we went to the mall, again... Why? Well, of course, to buy more TimTams! Now that we knew there was still space for more chocolate in our suitcases, we wanted to use it. At 12 o'clock, our bus arrived, and we had to say goodbye to Melbourne. But who knows, maybe it's more of a 'see you later' than a 'goodbye' for some of us?

After our break from the tour, we went to the farewell dinner. Before the dinner, Ms. Wawer had already told us that we had to bring a pen, but no one knew exactly what for, and of course, we forgot everything, but we noticed this only on the way to the Baci restaurant, so we quickly jumped into a Seven Eleven to buy some. But because we hadn't planned this stop, we had to run to the restaurant. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were allowed to order pizza margherita, spaghetti Bolognese, calamari fritti, or a beef burger. After the delicious meal, we all ate a scoop of ice cream at the river and finally found out what the pens were for. We all received a large postcard on which we had to write our name first, and then everyone had to write something nice about someone that happened during the trip. In the end, we all had many little memories of the trip on paper that hopefully we will never forget. On the way back to the hostel, we went to a supermarket to buy TimTams. The people all looked at us strangely, but you can't blame them. I went to the checkout with 9 packs in my arms, and that was only so few because I thought I wouldn't fit any more into my luggage, but luckily that was not the case. Back at the hostel, we packed our suitcases, which caused a huge mess. It was so bad that Ms. Wawer took a photo of our room when she came by in the evening for an inspection. In our last night in Australia, we were allowed to sleep because we didn't have to leave our rooms until 10 o'clock, but because we were so excited but also sad about the departure, we couldn't sleep much. The next morning we had a lot of time left until the bus came to take us to the airport, so we went to the mall again. Why? Of course, to buy more TimTams! Because our suitcases were almost packed, we knew how much space we had left for chocolate, and we wanted to use that space, of course. At 12 o'clock, our bus came and we had to say goodbye to Melbourne. But who knows, maybe for some of us it's more of a 'see you soon' than a 'goodbye'?
