Hellohello, I'm in a good mood! I finally left Belize today! It's actually *final*, I spent my last three days in Belize City because I wanted to split the route to Tulum a bit (that was a mistake) and what can I say, the city can really be skipped. Although that is probably my conclusion about Belize itself. But B City goes one better, the most expensive city on the route and really just neither beautiful nor comfortable. And just not safe, even during the day. The deserted street in the cover photo was simply part of the tourist district. So this morning I was overjoyed to pack my belongings and head up the border into Mexico. Crossing the border was also extremely easy, the officials on both sides were friendly and it even went fairly quickly. I was even able to pay by card (which was good because I made sure to exchange my Belize dollars for pesos) and then I took the shuttle to Chetumal. However, the driver was only allowed to drop us off at the organization's official drop off and only occupied taxis drove there. That's why I was allowed to walk 1.5 km towards my accommodation until a driver took pity on me and gave me a lift.

The first impression is actually really good, you feel a hundred times safer alone on the streets, even in the dark. Tomorrow at noon I'm going to Tulum and I'll stay there for about a week... then there'll be more to report :D
