I am in a land down under, still not 6ft tall, but maybe the muscles will come..
After a short night in an eight-bed room at the airport, with someone leaving for the plane every hour and me getting up at 4:30, I went to Sydney in 3 hours. Immigration was surprisingly easy.
It's nice and warm here again, because it's much further north and 2100km closer to home, which means I'm only 10 hours ahead now! 👍
I arrived at the hotel at 9:30am and since I can't check in until 2pm, I went for a long walk right away. As you can see from the photos, I've already been to two of Sydney's landmarks, the Opera House and the Harbor Bridge! It's such a scene that you've seen countless times before, and when you see it upfront, it seems unreal. But the harbor is quite nice in such good weather 😉
First impression: it feels very American, a little bit like New York. There are large pedestrian zones and several shopping arcades. The big parks and many trees make the cityscape more positive and provide pleasant shade during the summer temperatures... kind of like an urban climate excursion 😂
Despite the sumptuous meal on the plane, I still felt a little hungry and enjoyed some Lebanese food (there's still plenty of burgers and 'Australian' food), but more importantly, the dessert: Australian mango, which you could almost eat with a spoon and it was so sweet too 😍
So now I'm a little tired and looking forward to a nap in my hopefully soon-to-be-ready room and to my first private bathroom in 4 weeks 🤗
Let's see what's happening this evening..
See ya mate!
