Day 11
Visited Highlights: Atlantis the Palm & Aquaventure Waterpark
Today, we start again to Dubai. Destination: Atlantis!
In advance, I booked a Palm-Deluxe Room 'Ocean View' (the cheapest category!) for one night at Atlantis on hotels.com (it was the cheapest offer). Without meals - only accommodation. Cost: €423
As always, we will distribute ourselves in a double room with two queen-size beds. Since we are basically only in the room to sleep, that's okay. The background, of course, is that in addition to the overnight stay at Atlantis, we also have 2 days of water park access and free entry to the Lost Chambers Aquarium. That's always nice. Although this time we have to pay extra for the buffet restaurant in the Kaleidoscope Restaurant, but thanks to 2-for-1 vouchers, it is still relatively cheap.
We hand over our car at the valet parking, walk over the red carpet to the reception hall, and go to the check-in counter. Our room is not ready for occupancy yet, but we expected that. We have swimwear underneath, we drop off our suitcases, and receive our "tickets" for the water park, which we should exchange for the admission and hotel wristband.
We take a golf buggy from the pool to the ticket booth, we get our wristband and continue to the water park. As always, it's amazing!
This time we go to the Poseidon Tower and find beach chairs at the entry to the Rapids. We "swim" to the Neptune Tower with a tire and the kids slide down the Aquaventure Waterpark with the excitingly named "Shark Attack" ride. As experience has shown, it gets so crowded later that you can easily wait for an hour. Afterwards, we watch the fish in the aquarium and then go back to the slides.
But then a nasty surprise at the rafting: the "River Rapids" (rafting channel) are only half open. After going through 3 rapids, you are led back to the main "beach," where the channel from the "Wave" also comes in. You can no longer go around the Neptune Tower from the outside. It's really bad for us because we can't go to our beach chairs by tire anymore!!!
We don't know why we are not allowed to use the last "elevator" to the two last rapids. It only says "closed today." Hm... not cool!
We slide and splash around here until about 4 PM. Unlike other water parks, it is always crowded here, whether on weekends or weekdays. We let the sunset fade away in the main pool in front of the hotel and enjoy the view of Dubai opposite. At the reception, we pick up the room card. This time we are on the 3rd floor and got a brand new renovated room. How cool! Not much else has changed. Bathtub with sliding door, large bathroom, separate shower and toilet, sofa, and 2 queen beds. Nice. We always like it here 😊).
Dinner is, of course, amazing again! This buffet is truly unique.
After we are totally stuffed and our son has sweetened fruit at the chocolate fountain, we walk through the Lost Chambers Aquarium. Also always cool!
After taking a few pictures outside in cozy +31 degrees Celsius, we fall into bed. A day in the water park is really exhausting 😉
