We started the day with eighteen degrees and unfortunately a lot of rain. We headed to Senoia, but couldn't find anything related to "The Walking Dead". The very charming Main street was inviting for a stroll, but it was still raining so we went back to Fayetteville. There we visited the Starrs Mill, which served as a backdrop in the movie "Sweet Home Alabama". It's a beautiful little park with benches around, truly a very nice place.
Next stop was the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton. I quickly found some great souvenirs in the gift shop. Unfortunately, none of our three credit cards were accepted and they didn't take cash either... very disappointing. However, we saved some money that we were able to spend well at the Tanger Outlet in Loftus Creek. Nadine got new shoes, so the vacation can only get better.
Unless... our destination for the day was the Red Roof Inn in Griffin. Maybe we should have been suspicious when Chris at the reception asked us what the hell we were doing in Griffin coming from Germany. But alright. The room was a revelation. Pillows with bacon crust, footprints on the bed sheets, and towels with stains were unacceptable. We called Chris and he immediately saw the problem and sent housekeeping to fix it. In the meantime, we went to eat at Applebee's and when we came back, everything was fine... except for the cockroach that suddenly zoomed across the room. Nadine's new Doc Martens definitely ended the happy life of Sheldon the cockroach today. And now we can finally relax.
CONCLUSION: In the future, it's definitely safe to avoid Griffin, but it's warm and tomorrow we're heading to Florida's capital... Any guesses which city that is? No googling...
