Tag 1 oder 'das eiskalte Wasser'

ຈັດພີມມາ: 22.09.2016

It is quite warm for this time of year, so the training is being moved up an hour - that means training starts at 7 o'clock. It is still quite bright at this time, and the excitement overpowers any tiredness. I will receive a brief introduction, luckily I already have some experience with harnesses and leash systems. However, currently we are training with carts instead of sleds. The training already started in early September, so Eric has already gotten to know his teams, and there are only two training carts. So I will ride in the lead team with Corinna to get to know the technique and trail. Oh yeah, and the commands are all in Norwegian! :D The current training tours last about 45 minutes, during which we cover some altitude. The stages will be gradually extended until the animals are fully trained again by mid-December and can go on multi-day tours with the tourists. The training for the day is completed by around 11 o'clock. Being lazy? Not at all! Today and the next few days, I have a special challenge ahead of me - getting to know the dogs and remembering their names. There's no way I can do that without notes ;) Otherwise, I will be instructed in the daily tasks - cleaning the kennels twice a day (meaning 'picking up poop'), the evening (carnivorous) feeding, letting the puppies out of the kennels and ensuring they get some exercise, etc. etc... but there will also be plenty of cuddling ;) The first day already had a lot of input, and one thing is clear - it won't be boring here for sure :)
