Milford Sound and the way there

ຈັດພີມມາ: 22.01.2023

The Milford Sound is located in the Fiordland National Park and is one of 14 fjords that have been carved by glaciers into the Fiordland.

It is accessible only by road, which we drove today.

The Fiordland National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and largely wild and unspoiled.

This wilderness covers about ten percent of the total land area of New Zealand and is in many parts difficult or even impossible to access.

We took a guided tour with a minibus and only 14 other people, of various nationalities and a very funny bus driver.

This fantastic day was rounded off with a boat trip through the Milford Sound past Mitre Peak (1692m) to the Tasman Sea.

On the Milford Road we had great views of this magnificent landscape.

If it had rained more in the past few days, we would have seen even more spectacular waterfalls.
