Etappe 24: From Shkodra to Tirana

ຈັດພີມມາ: 19.11.2021

Before continuing the journey, I first got a SIM card for Albania, which proved to be very useful. In Tirana, I would have had problems with orientation during the journey. The journey itself was mostly unspectacular along the main road. Contrary to many reports, I never felt unsafe on country roads and highways in Albania. There was plenty of space and most drivers kept enough distance from me. The roads outside Tirana were also in good condition. In the capital itself, one had to pay more attention to potholes or stray dogs. Traffic lights are rare and traffic operates on the principle of swarm intelligence, which I am familiar with from scooter rides in Vietnam.

Tirana itself has a lot to offer and I regretted only having half a day planned for the city. At least I was able to participate in a city tour the next day and see some of the most important sights. The tour guide emphasized that in Albania, all religions can coexist and there have never been major conflicts due to different religions (but because of everything else...) - a nice idea. I definitely want to visit Tirana again!
