Corte Madera - San Francisco: We did it!

Unbelievable!

After a total of 3,904 km, 36,770 meters of elevation gain, and 311 hours and 44 minutes, we have now arrived in San Francisco!

We have been traveling along the Pacific coast for 1.5 months now and we do not regret it at all! It was definitely the BEST section of our journey so far.

We have met incredibly wonderful people, stayed with very hospitable Americans, and truly feel that we have gained an authentic insight into the country!

The route along the coast and through the forests was beautiful, and the weather was mostly on our side. We only had 2 weeks of cold and rain at the beginning.

We actually thought that the weather would get much warmer and sunnier the further south we went... but somehow that was not the case. From Washington to California, we had a very similar climate. Mostly sun and clouds, and almost always between 10°C and 15°C.

Well, ... on the last day of our bike trip to San Francisco, we made a stop in downtown Corte Madera. There was a 'street festival' with various samples from all the restaurants. And we were very lucky: there was an offer of the GoPro Hero 5 in the sports shop. So now we are fully equipped again.

We set off well-nourished... towards San Francisco... in beautiful weather, but with very strong winds.

The moment we crossed the Golden Gate Bridge and really realized that we had made it all the way to San Francisco was indescribable!

I had sooo many feelings of happiness inside me, I couldn't stop smiling. Actually, I still can't believe that we took this step, bought two bikes in New Zealand, and really started riding.

But one thing I can say for sure: it feels extremely good! And I'm already a little proud of Markus and myself!
