Katiki Beach, Moeraki
Today, we wake up early again because we want to see the Moeraki Boulders at sunrise. Unfortunately, even at sunrise, there are many people around the rounded stones, which makes the beautiful scenery not quite as magical. We use the early morning to go out on the water with our board again. Today's destination is Timaru, where we hope to see penguins in the evening. On the way, we stop at a city park and look at the baby kangaroos kept in a cage. At 9:30 pm, we join a German couple we met locally and head to the beach to see the penguins, which come to their nests on the beach at dusk. Unfortunately, there is supposed to be only one penguin on the beach, so we are unlucky and don't see any.
