Walk on Colle San Pietro: in the beautiful weather, half of Verona strolls through the city, at the Funicolare (funicular) people are in a long line, but strangely, there is no one at the top. At the top, on the summit, there are the overgrown remains of the Castel, a wild mixture of trees, grassy areas, remnants of walls, and ivy. There is a fantastic view of the city and the plain, I sit there for a long time, reading or enjoying the sun and dolce far niente.
In the meantime, I also understand why I have understood so little when spoken in Italian: in German, all possible connections are summarized in noun constructions, which German learners probably struggle with: dry fruit packaging quality standard or inland shipping captain training center.
The Italians, on the other hand, combine verbs and pronouns: ricordati di darmi/dammi - remember to give me - un bacio / i soldi / un fazzoletto di carta - a kiss / money / a paper tissue. And even worse: don't forget to give it to me is then ricordati di dammelo. Three words, spoken quickly - huiuiui, if you don't prick up your ears there...
