After the exciting days in Paihia and Auckland, I had two days to catch my breath. The first thing on the agenda was laundry, shopping, and planning. In Rotorua, I strolled through the streets where a book jumped out at me from this cool bookstore. Even though I'm not much of a reader, I thought it was time for an English crime novel. After washing, the clothes were dried, and I checked out Rotorua Lake.
After that, I actually just wanted to head to the campsite, but on the way, I was forced to stop at the impressive hot springs. Prior to that, I noticed a group of basketball players (French and Japanese) in the park. I played a round with them, and together we enjoyed the hot springs.
The next morning, I headed to Te Puke, where my kiwi work is supposed to take place. Due to the bad weather, however, I had another day off. I spent it shopping for CDs and cutlery, as well as visiting a beach.
Yesterday was my first day of work on the kiwi plantation. It was extremely monotonous and strenuous for my neck and back, as I had to reach up constantly to remove the excess buds.
Very exhausting in the long run and simply boring, but what must be done, must be done. After that, it was all about 'survival,' buying food, and booking a campsite. However, I was rewarded with a beautiful sunset sky. Today is the second hard workday passed, and I am utterly exhausted on my air mattress in the car. Still, I want to push through again tomorrow.
Ps: Unfortunately, my ear is still not getting better :(
