We skipped the northernmost point of the South Island 10 years ago. We made up for it now, and it was definitely worth it. A four-hour walk along the beach and through the dune landscape with amazing weather showcased New Zealand at its finest.
The next day, we went back to this region again. A path along cliffs can only be walked at low tide. The rocks on the beach have been eroded over the past x years, making them full of holes like Swiss cheese. We were able to walk through various caves, and a whiff of air was all it took to know that there was a seal inside. On the way back to the car, we crossed meadows with countless sheep.
Equipped with squid bait, we tried our luck with fishing once more. Despite the amazing bait and our efforts, we ended up with vegetables instead of fish for dinner. However, the green curry still tasted excellent.
