Humahuaca

Humahuaca has about 15,000 inhabitants including its suburbs and is the capital of the department of the same name. The majority of the population is descended from the indigenous people of the Kollas and Omaguacas. Until the end of the 19th century, the city was an important commercial center of the so-called Alto Perú.
