It's earth ... so drink!
Michi compels us to drink clay as a precautionary measure, so that our stomachs can tolerate authentic food. Well, we do it for her sake, instead of a great cocktail, we have earth with water! And we go to bed - crunching between our teeth. Day two can come, but first three interesting facts:
A) In Singapore, everything is prohibited, one draws the authorities' attention faster than one would like. Therefore, we behave exemplary!
B) During our short stay, we live in a shoebox (Hotel Orchid 81) ... chic and very clean, but a shoebox. With six suitcases, three grown-ups, and three beds ... a dream😁
C) In our opinion, Singapore rightfully bears the reputation as the ultimate entry country for Asia travelers - Asia Light shows itself because:
Back to day two: it is hotter and more humid today than yesterday, maybe because the sun shines incessantly. As soon as we leave the hotel, we could kill flies in our wake - today we notice even more that we are in the tropics.
In the mosque, we women wear a .... (hmmm, not very conducive to body ventilation, and I'm missing the technical term) and we have to chuckle a bit that there are even charging stations for our cell phones and wifi. (Heated up and) thanks to the interactive explanatory panels, we are now much smarter and can leave Sultan Mosque. We head to Little India.
Even in the Indian district of Little India, there are few people on the streets, an air-conditioned vegetarian restaurant provides the necessary cooling. It offers the first meal of the day: South Indian and North Indian Meal and Chilli Tofu and Garlic Naan (endless garlic, of course). Super delicious!
I explicitly referred to my European origin ... the amount of chili in the Tofu Chilli dish should please be adjusted, because I still plan to travel further and not be arrested.
Note: there are a lot of so-called "vegetarian restaurants," whereby the term vegetarian is apparently stretchable - often, for example, chicken is added to the rice.
Tired from eating and from the heat today, we still bravely persevere and seek peace and solitude in the botanical garden, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the most visited botanical garden in the world. Like Fort Park yesterday ... hardly anyone here, it really is relaxing. You rarely feel like you're in a city with almost 6 million inhabitants.
The botanical garden is really worth a detour, we amble for hours between the Evolution Garden, Ginger Garden, Swan Lake, or Foliage Garden ... just to name a few! And we gladly share these with other inhabitants of our earth - turtles, squirrels, rats, chickens, and monitor lizards.
And hours later, it's finally time: Michi can finally enjoy her long-awaited ride on the Singapore Flyer, the second-largest Ferris wheel in the world. For a hefty $33, she enjoys the view from above of the city, the harbor, the Gardens by the Bay ...
The Helix Bridge, a bridge inspired by human DNA, slowly leads us towards home ... of course, not without having dinner in our new favorite restaurant. They don't understand us here, but the food, the food❤️ ...
