The heat...

My hostess says that it is unusually hot so early this year. Normally, it doesn't get this hot in South India until May. We are expecting temperatures over 40 degrees in Vellore and in many parts of South India...Trend: stable. The monsoon usually starts in South India in May and then progresses to North India over a period of about 6 weeks. That's why I wanted to stay in South India at the beginning of my trip and maybe go further to North India later, but definitely not the other way around. The increasing heat and humidity are probably signs of the upcoming and early monsoon arrival (in northern Australia, they call it 'the build up' when this unpleasant, hot and humid season begins).

Since it becomes torture to leave the house during the daytime, I will probably have to reconsider and leave South India earlier than planned and flee to North India...which is a shame...I wanted to go to Madurai, to the southern tip and to Kerala...

Update: Now trying to get used to the heat and humidity and then STILL continue to travel south...
