We set off by car. First stop was You Yang Regional Park. The first thing we wanted to do here was look for wild kangaroos.
By car we travel through fields and meadows into the rainforest. When we arrived at the park we drove the Big Circle Drive and hoped that we would see kangaroos.
The park was really beautiful, the route took us up a mountain from where we had a wonderful view of the forest. We also saw lots of birds and butterflies of all colors. But unfortunately no kangaroos. Not a single one. Menno.
Slightly frustrated, we set off for the second forest, where, according to the description, you should find "lots of kangaroos". On the way, we unfortunately saw two dead kangaroos on the side of the road... super sad. But it is probably as Siar says. Kangaroos are in Australia what deer are in Germany.
When we arrived at the second forest, it started to rain lightly, but we set off anyway. We went into the forest, rounded the corner and boom! Everything was full of kangaroos - at least 30 of them were romping around between the trees on either side.
I really couldn't believe it. There were even lots of little kangaroos and a bigger one was carrying a baby in its pouch 🥹🥹🥹❤️❤️❤️
While I was observing the animals up close, but of course from a safe distance, I noticed for the first time how stupid they actually look 😂. Their arms just dangle pointlessly from their bodies 😂. But they are still so sweet. The way they look at you in such shock...
After Meet the Kangaroo we made our way back to the hotel. Tomorrow we are flying on to Sydney.
By the way, we still have Hamburg's crappy weather in Australia but from Wednesday onwards it should finally get better. Let's hope so 🤣
