#21 Late summer in the South of Provence

Verëffentlecht: 25.11.2021

16th-17th November 2021: Les Tamaris and La Redonne

F. Spending the winter on the beach is one of the goals of our current tour. In Lyon and Orange we had warmer weather than in Germany for the first time and now the beach should be added to this evening. Unfortunately, the arrival was greatly delayed by an accident on the freeway, as a complete closure was set up right in front of us. So we arrived at our chosen parking space for the night in absolute darkness. However, the ability to see was not as important as the ability to hear. *Sound of the sea* With this sound in the background, we fell asleep.

The next morning we went for a short hike from our sleeping spot in Les Tamaris along the water to Plage du Verdon. On the way back, we walked through the small villages and past the many closed campsites. Everywhere you could hear hammering, sawing, or drilling. In general, we could also witness a lot of cosmetic repairs or other work in the next few days. Only a few restaurants or accommodations are still open at this time of year. That's okay, I always say, because that means more space for us. 😊

In the afternoon, we briefly went to the Fiat workshop because I noticed a low coolant level when checking the operating fluids and was not sure after a long research which coolant is now the right one to refill. In France, the coolant for our Fiat is green and not red. Well, the workshop was able to help me with that, and so we drove to La Redonne in the evening.

This is also one of the many small villages with its own sports boat harbor along the Côte Bleue. The coast is not called that without reason. Because the water is crystal clear everywhere and shimmers beautifully turquoise in the sun. The evening walk along the coast was accompanied by a bang of red sunset on the Mediterranean Sea. Beautiful late summer in November.

Our parking space for the night had a beautiful view over the cliffs and the sea. To get there, we had to go down a road with a very steep incline (without a sign giving the percentage) for a short distance. The parking lot was significantly flatter than the road, but still had at least a 5% incline. Because we were afraid that our handbrake would not hold the weight of our van and that we would eventually roll down the mountain, we preferred to park sideways. You had to be careful to lie correctly and not tip over when you stood up.

Day 32 - Total tour 2,795 km
