Perpignan (in Spanish Perpiñán) is a city and a commune (municipality) in the southeast of France, located in the Occitanie region, within the French department of the Pyrénées Orientales (which is its departmental capital) and within the Perpignan district.
It has a population of 129,925 inhabitants (according to data from the year 2021) and an area of 68.07 km².
The Basilica-Cathedral of Perpignan is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist; it dates back to the 14th century and is of Gothic style.
