It's 7 pm and I'm already in bed, letting all the amazing experiences of today sink in. So I have some time to write a little more 😊.
Our group quickly started a WhatsApp group to exchange photos and plan evening meetings. Katie from England and Stefan from Austria have such great cameras that can capture the impressive starry sky.
At 6:30 this morning, we were picked up by Drew in a 4WD bus to make our way to Fraser Island.
Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world, with a length of 120km. On the way, we were already greeted by kangaroos and then crossed over by ferry.
Wow, I saw a shark for the first time 😍, okay, it was just the fin 😂, but I think I'd rather not go swimming here.
It's incredible how we zoomed along the kilometer-long beach in the bus and all you can see is the ocean. On the other side, there was also a dingo ("in the group, nothing happens to us, but the dingos are hungry here on the island").
First, we drove to the center and visited the rainforest. There were also many holes from the funnel spiders 😬. Then we went to the lake where we could swim without any dangers, except that it was a bit cold. But it was bearable in the sun.
While we let loose and relaxed for an hour, Drew started the grill for a delicious BBQ. This time, I was greeted by an iguana (is that a 🦎?).
After we have strengthened ourselves, we returned along the water with a stop for coffee and cake.
Back on the mainland, we drove along the beach of Rainbow Beach and saw rainbows as well. Although the name actually originated from the many colors of the beach.
Another great day comes to an end with many impressions. Tomorrow we will fly from Brisbane to Airlie Beach, as the bus journey is quite long.
