North Wales - Anglesey

Verëffentlecht: 30.03.2019

On Saturday, March 23rd, the Italians and I set off again. This time, the destination was North Wales. There, we visited the island of Anglesey. Before we went there, I didn't really have an idea of what there is to see, but it was worth it once again.

The bus ride took about 2 hours, which meant 2 hours of extra sleep for me. So, I slept the whole journey because waking up at 7 am on Saturdays is not really my thing.

Since the island is very big, we traveled from place to place by bus to see as much as possible. The first stop was in the city with the longest name in the world. On the island, 60% of Welsh is spoken, which was completely new to me. But that means that all signs and names are displayed in two languages.

Then we drove along the coast. The tour guide told us on the way that there are more sheep living in Wales than people, which we could immediately see. The landscape is characterized by thousands of fields and pastures where sheep herds enjoy their lives from time to time. Of course, we also saw many lambs, which definitely made the bus ride better. The sad information was that the lambs unfortunately serve to feed the population. I would have liked to save and adopt all of them!

Next, we went to an old mine. There, you could observe many different colors in the landscape. Allegedly, it is also a popular place for shooting films. Maybe scenes for the new James Bond film are being shot there as well.

The excursion was relatively short due to the long journey, so we didn't spend a lot of time on the island. The last stop was at an old bridge connecting the island to the mainland.

Unfortunately, there is no trip this weekend, but next week we're going to London, and then it's ROMMERSKIRCHEN HERE I COME!!
