It may be because due to the pandemic we haven't been able to discover new places for almost two years. Or it may be because we arrived here on a beautiful summer evening (yes, we're talking about the year 2021...) but Salzburg is one of those cities where I could imagine staying right away. It is manageable in size, yet it offers everything your heart desires: a historic old town with many magnificent buildings, extensive and splendid parks, fantastic gastronomy, and of course, a lot of culture. And the city is alive, with street cafes, bars, cozy beer gardens full of people, many of whom are elegantly dressed on their way to an event of the annual festival, adding an extra flair so that on a - very rare in 2021 - mild summer evening, you almost feel somewhere on the Mediterranean. Definitely a place to return to, whether in summer or any other season.
