A glance at the clock, it's only 4:00 in the morning and already bright as day. The nights are getting shorter. So it's not time to get up yet. At 6:30 a.m., I'm awakened by the noise of machinery, the diggers and conveyors on the opposite shore are running at full speed. Well, then get out of the sleeping bag and into the lake. A morning refreshment is a must. And the water is not even as cold as expected.
That was my first night in Denmark, it couldn't have been better 😊 I'm heading to Kolding. It's 55 km from here. I don't know if I'll make it today.
I'm facing a small problem again, because the gas cartridge for my small camping stove will soon be empty. I'll Google how to get one in Denmark. And behold, there is a camping store 350 m away. I rarely find shopping opportunities here, so once again I call it a miracle. Happily, I hold the Campingaz in my hand in a few moments. Now there will be plenty of cups of coffee and four-star menus 😂
Somehow my trailer is not running smoothly today. I check everything, but I can't find anything special. Even reloading doesn't help. I suspect it's due to the wind. Every hill I go downhill, I slow down to prevent the luggage trailer from swaying. Very tedious progress🙄 Yes downhill... it's the same here. Far from it, everything is flat in Denmark.
So today it won't be a long distance. I find a hut with a meadow in front of it, it seems to be public property. The best place for a coffee. And it's already 5:00 p.m. I can slowly start looking for a place to stay. It starts to rain. Either I wait a little longer, or I flee from the rain.
I deviate from my route through forests and fields, I want to get closer to the Baltic Sea. But I won't succeed today. The weather is getting unfriendly, so I'll have to take the next best place.
This seems quite acceptable here. Behind a tall hedge, the grain stands in its golden splendor probably one meter high. Why not have a bed in the cornfield? 😅
As soon as my little hut is set up, it starts to rain. I hurriedly stuff my luggage into the tent. I can set up when I'm dry.
Now I'm curious what the local weather report says about this. Rain probability tonight 90% and wind 45 km/h, with occasional gusts. Great! And tomorrow even better: Rain with 20 - 40% probability, wind 65 km/h 🙉 with gusts. I decide to find a couch for tomorrow. After a few minutes, I already receive a confirmation for Couchsurfing in Kolding from a young man. Oh, how relieved I am! Then I'll sleep in the dry tomorrow 😊
