Day 4: Vancouver

Verëffentlecht: 19.10.2018

~ Tuesday, 16.10.18 ~

Hello hello,

after being in Stanley Park in the dark yesterday, I wanted to see it in the light today. Another German who is also traveling alone and messaged me on Facebook had the same plan, so the two of us set off together.

From my hostel to Stanley Park, the path followed the water again, passing several beaches. When we arrived at the park, a footpath led around the peninsula. Always along the water and the cliff coast, we had a great view of the sea and the opposite mainland. I almost saw my first whale too! A Canadian told us that there was a whale swimming off the coast and he had just seen it. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the whale and 'only' saw a seal :-)

After the coastal path, we went directly into Stanley Park. There are so many hiking trails through the forest, past lakes and ponds, that we spent several hours walking here. Of course, we couldn't miss the totem poles, which were unfortunately besieged by several Asian tour bus loads :-D

In the afternoon, we strolled through the expensive harbor district of Vancouver and Gastown. Here stands the famous Steam Clock, a steam-powered clock that whistles a little melody every hour. As it was getting dark, we sat by the water in the harbor district and enjoyed the many beautiful lights.

And considering that my phone showed that I walked about 27 km today, my feet surprisingly felt good in the evening :-)
