Peninsula Valdes is a peninsula on the coast of Argentina. The entire peninsula is a national park with a nature reserve. Penguins, sea lions, and elephant seals gather on the coast. During the whale season, whales come to the calm bays to mate. They can be easily seen from the land. Unfortunately, the whale season was already over two weeks ago when we were there.
However, there is something very special to see at the northernmost point of the island. This is the only place where orcas hunt seals on land. They let themselves be washed ashore with a wave to catch a seal and then return to the water with the wave. However, the whole spectacle can only be observed during the whale season again.
