Day 2: A day in Kuta

Verëffentlecht: 22.03.2017

Since we only had one full day in Kuta, we started exploring the city early in the morning. Kuta is a larger city, also known as the Ballermann by the Aussies. In the front streets, you get approached every few meters: Do you need a taxi, scooter, massage, t-shirt...? Mega annoying 😲

The beach in Kuta is disappointing. The waves are 2-3 meters high, so it's only good for surfers. Unfortunately, the beach is full of dirt/trash, which the locals try to clean up painstakingly.

There's not much else to see, just a lot of shopping. I could buy lots of clothes, furniture, pictures, statues, etc., here. Unfortunately, we don't have space to take anything with us, and we're still traveling for too long. Sending something to Germany is too risky and expensive. 😞

Fortunately, we had a great accommodation, everything clean, and very nice landlords. Since the accommodation was about 800m from the beach, we could also see the less touristy places. Our 'neighbors' live in corrugated iron huts with only one water tap (kitchen & bathroom) for about 50 people. There are also cats and dogs running around everywhere without a home. Despite everything, they are the nicest people who would even invite you to eat! It makes you think about how well off we are in Europe and how little we appreciate it! 🤔🙁😔

We had no problems with the food and were doing great. There's no specific gluten-free food, but it works ;) We always had rice with vegetables, sometimes with chicken, for food. Or English breakfast with rice instead of toast. In between, there's delicious fruit everywhere :)

We were glad to only have one day in Kuta. We hope to discover more beautiful and quieter places in Bali. 🍉🌴🍍🌳🐢🏝🐒🍌
