Kanada - Day 9 (1) - On the way to Clearwater

Verëffentlecht: 05.09.2018

Hoping to leave the terrible weather behind us, we left Whistler and set off on the long road to Clearwater. We set off early again, and had breakfast at McDonald's. I don't think I've ever been to McDonald's or other fast food chains as often as I have on this vacation! :D

At first, the weather didn't look much better, in the mountains we had only 3 degrees...and of course, rain again. That worried us a bit. We didn't want it to get slippery too! But luckily, that worry was unfounded. As we drove, the weather got better and better. The clouds broke and the sun came out! So we were able to make a first photo stop and enjoy the sunshine a bit. Just a little later, we had another photo stop at a beautiful mountain lake. That was a beautiful landscape. And finally good weather! It's a shame that we spent most of the day in the car today, but I was still very happy with the beautiful weather today.

The drive was calm and problem-free. Driving in Canada is really pleasant, as there is much less traffic than on the roads here. Unfortunately, you can't drive faster than 100 km/h there, even though the road conditions easily allow it, but you don't want to take any chances. However, the huge motorhomes that had to be overtaken regularly were interesting to see, some of them were pulling their cars behind them. A funny sight!

We enjoyed the rest of the drive and the landscape around us. We also passed Kamloops, where we would have a stay on the way back from the Rockies. It was already 20 degrees here! Not bad at all. I would have loved to stay there right away, because the closer we got to Clearwater, the worse the weather seemed to get. Dark clouds were moving in as we got closer to our destination. But the weather still held up! After more than 5 hours, we arrived at our next Air BnB accommodation after a nice drive.
