This morning, it was about 9.5 km as the crow flies to the destination, although the actual walking distance naturally depends on certain uncertainties. If the boulder fields from the first day were already challenging, today was the icing on the cake. Anyone who undertakes this tour and finds the first 15 km too difficult should actually turn back!
We had to climb steep slopes and descend, which, due to the partly loose stones, were really quite dangerous. Every step required the highest concentration.
In the afternoon, we finally arrived at our trigger for this whole tour: The geocache GCJNWJ 'Nothing but stones'. It was a very liberating feeling to have finally made it this far. However, that was not the only highlight of the moment because the only woman in the team received a marriage proposal from her boyfriend. And indeed, we others were already in the know. I smuggled the ring here so it wouldn't accidentally be found too early. 😁 To top it off, we toasted with a little whiskey.
Then we headed back. Since we had walked over the mountain on the way there, we chose the path over the beach. Unfortunately, this path was just as strenuous as the one before. But at least there were completely new views and also plenty of interesting beach finds.
At some point, this path met the path from the outward journey and we tried to cover as many meters as possible there. But after over 12 hours of hiking, the lights were finally out. We found a sleeping spot by a small river, set up camp, and fell half-dead into the tent.
