From Walpole, we had a short 60 km drive to Denmark today. Before the birthday celebration in the evening, we visited the beautiful Greens Pool once again, which can't be admired enough. I was already warned that this week is the peak holiday season in Denmark. It was busier than last time, but still manageable. This was probably due to the slightly cooler temperatures of about 22 degrees Celsius. In addition to Greens Pool and Elephant Rocks, we discovered some truly brilliant, unknown coastal landscapes by continuing our walk. This place on Earth is simply incredible. Even during peak season, you can find quiet and beautiful spots after a short walk. Examples? Here they are:
At Greens Pool, we had a trial run for snorkeling at Ningaloo Reef. Conclusion: The equipment works, but Greens Pool was too cold on that day. Finally, I was able to fulfill my plan since my first visit to this coast, which was to jump off the rock. The hardest part was getting up there, which somehow succeeded after the second attempt. This had to be celebrated:
Afterwards, we visited Lights Beach one last time, which is popular among dog owners for walks.
In Denmark, we also came across a self-made lemonade stand, like the ones you sometimes see in American children's movies or series. We considered it a duty to treat ourselves to a glass.
In the evening, Matthes' cozy birthday gathering began. Since he and his wife Antje were hosting a big New Year's Eve party just two days later, it was intentionally more relaxed. We spent one last evening together with ham, Speculoos biscuits, and a rich tomato casserole. When it was time to say goodbye the next morning, it really hit me. Looking back at the shock of the daylight games, Lord of the Rings evenings, and trips to different beaches (see previous entries), I realized how much I enjoyed being there. Once again, a big thank you at this point!
Nevertheless, the trip had to continue. The next stop was Albany.
