South Island

Verëffentlecht: 23.03.2018

After the hike, we spent 2 days in Palmerston North. There, we visited the Rugby Museum to become more familiar with the national sport. It mainly focused on the history and how New Zealand's All Blacks became one of the best teams in the world. It was also interesting to tackle a dummy.

In the library, which you can find in every small town here in New Zealand, I discovered a 3D printer where you can simply print something. So, I sat down at the public computers and put something together and printed it out.

On Thursday, we drove to Wellington to take the ferry in the afternoon. The crossing takes 3.5 hours, in good weather. You can enjoy the scenic views of the landscape and, if you're lucky, even see dolphins, which Robin unfortunately missed.

In the evening, we drove on very winding roads from Picton to Nelson. Robin had pain in his wisdom teeth, so he went to the dentist in the morning to make an appointment for an examination. After that, it was a 5-day wait. Meanwhile, I discovered a new program for 3D models on the internet and started drawing.

On Thursday, we left Nelson to drive to the northern part of Abel Tasman Park to go hiking there. On the way, there was a section of the road that was single lane due to construction work on the partially collapsed road. Arriving in Takaka, we realized that the weather would be bad until Sunday.
