Goodbye RV - Hello Vancouver

Verëffentlecht: 23.07.2022

Wow, it was early this morning when the alarm went off at 6:30. I always need a little time to open my eyes, doze off, and slowly prepare for getting up. I know there are people who hear the alarm and jump up - I definitely don't belong to them.

Today is the day of return, today we have to say goodbye to our camper after 21 days.

The bags are packed, the fridge is empty except for our last breakfast, as is the rest.

Our return slot is from 9:00-10:00, and we want to be there on time. We'll start at 8:30. Another 20 minutes drive and one refueling, and then we'll be ready for handover. According to the navigation system, there are 2 gas stations on our way.

The first one was quite conveniently located, but we somehow ignored it. It's just too bad that the second one was next to the highway, but you could only get there by taking a big detour. In addition, the area is currently a major construction site, and the newly updated navigation system doesn't know the new traffic flow. Finally, at 9:30, after driving 3023 kilometers, we roll onto the yard. The handover goes smoothly, 200€ are deducted from the deposit for the lost wheel caps, and we can leave the yard. Now it's gone, and our hotel at the airport is waiting for us. A big bed and a big bathroom with a great shower. To our delight, our room is already ready. After a short rest, we can still enjoy half a day in Vancouver.

Sightseeing is now on the agenda. So we hop on the metro and head to the city.

We still have to buy souvenirs today. So we stroll through the city.

Time for a little snack in between
Olympic Cauldron
They are more advanced when it comes to bike paths here
Docking for cruise ships

and enjoy a beer at Steamworks to end the day.

For those who are still interested, here's our conclusion about the camper - that's it for the rest.

Conclusion: the interior size of the camper was great, but the exterior size was too big, so there were some limitations and not everywhere accessible.

The slideout was a real space gain, even if the dining area only extended by 50 cm. The bathroom had dimensions of 70x120, but if you subtract the shower of 70x50, it was a bit tight, but the advantage was that we always had a toilet with us.

The suspension was wobbly and the wardrobe super susceptible to wind. You could drive it fuel efficiently at 80 km/h and downhill, if you can call 20 l consumption fuel efficient.

The generator was indispensable, as many campsites, especially those that were not pre-bookable, had no power.

We had to report some losses: 2 wheel caps, 1 glass, 1 drawer, a bumper cap, a broken key, and a seal.
