We are on our way back to Perth (approx. 800 km). Not along the coast, but through the Western Australian Outback. We had imagined the Outback to be more desert-like, but we mostly passed incredibly large, already harvested wheat fields. For Australians, apparently anything that is not on the coastal strip is considered the Outback. The drive to Perth in one go was too stressful for us. We made a stop in Hyden at the Waverock Motel, the largest town far and wide, with a whopping 200 inhabitants! There is 'nothing' here except a motel, gas station, and supermarket. The Waverock, a wave-like rock formation that is 100 meters long and 15 meters high, is the only thing of note. The motel everywhere advertised 'Enjoy your ice-cold beer'. We didn't hesitate to indulge ourselves at 34 degrees....
