My vacation starts this afternoon. 8 nights at the same pitch. That's going to be great and relaxing!

But before that, I want to see a few things.

Let's start with a little hike through a Kauri forest. There's no disinfection station here, but clear instructions to stay on the path.

Tane Mahuta is the tallest tree in New Zealand, but these Kauri trees are also very very tall. Truly amazing and really beautiful to look at!

After the walk in the forest, I have to make a strong brake. There are chickens running around here and right in front of my camper 😅. And then the journey continues, looking at another waterfall, but the footpath there is really really short.

After the waterfall, it's time for the story: we're going to one of the first mission stations in the country in Kerikeri. There, the missionaries taught the Maori people how to read and write. Mostly with the help of the Bible, which also had the background of Christianizing the Maoris. In close proximity, directly within sight of the mission station, there was a large Maori Pa and some of the most well-known Maori of the time were at this station to learn how to read and write.

In the afternoon, I arrived in the Bay of Islands. It's beautiful here and really like paradise. I believe that this is paradise here! The sun is shining, it's warm and the campground is right on a bay! It couldn't get any better than this!
