Guest and cabin change in Singapore

Verëffentlecht: 18.06.2023

A new journey begins. Moving from Deck 8 to Deck 11. The suitcases and clothing were carried up by the service staff. Unfortunately, we now have the speaker right in front of our balcony door. It is so loud during every announcement that you have to cover your ears. The request for a different cabin was declined, as it would only be possible with a high additional payment. We were not the only travelers who had to change cabins. It is also necessary to exchange the boarding passes. The booked data volume and everything else will move with us.

Immediately after moving, we drove back to Singapore. First, we went to Orchard Road and the Chinatown. Taking a taxi in Singapore is a bit complicated. You either have an app or go to a taxi dealer. You can't just hail a taxi, but you have to go to certain locations and wait in line. I paid for the ride with my Visa card, which cost double the normal fare.

In Singapore, there are no small shopping streets, but only air-conditioned shopping centers due to the high temperatures. They vary greatly in terms of offerings, from luxury to normal. I bought a jumper dress in the Chinese market and found earrings for my granddaughter in a shopping center (although she doesn't like them).

Back on the ship, the same procedure for immigration.

A Chinese cruise ship was moored opposite our ship, but it left in the evening.

In the evening, we went with two friends to the famous Raffles Hotel to have the famous Singapore Sling drink.

The Raffles Hotel is a hotel built in 1887 in colonial style in Singapore, named after the founder of Singapore, Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles. In front of the hotel entrance, there was an Indian man in traditional attire who greeted us nicely and friendly, but directed us to the bar, which could only be reached through the tropical courtyard. It was a very beautifully designed garden.

The bar is called Long Bar and is located on the first floor of a building behind the Raffles. The atmosphere is truly unique, with peanut shells scattered all over the floor. After waiting for 20 minutes, we were assigned a table. A small bag of peanuts was immediately placed on the table. Of course, we chose the Singapore Sling, since we were here, we had to try it. However, it is very expensive. We paid the equivalent of 32 EUR for one glass. Since we liked it so much, we ordered another round.

We then went for a walk in Singapore and wanted to walk back to the ship. This was impossible in the humid heat. There are also very few sidewalks. An attempt to hail a taxi failed. So we had to walk to Marina Bay Sands Hotel to wait for a taxi at the taxi stand.

We quenched our thirst at the Tui Bar. An older woman was sleeping deeply and soundly in a chair there. I suspected she was unwell, as it was very difficult to wake her up. It turned out that her husband had forgotten about her. He was also sleeping. After some time, she was awake again and was able to tell us the cabin number, so someone from the crew took her there. We finally went to bed at half-past two.
