10/08/2022 to 12/08/2022 - Stage 6 from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina to Savnik, Montenegro (208 kilometers)

Verëffentlecht: 13.08.2022

In the afternoon, after our food tour, we left Sarajevo. We drove on very bumpy, winding, and partially unpaved roads to Montenegro. On some sections, we encountered cows calmly walking in the middle of the road. We had mixed weather, from clouds in Sarajevo, to sun in the mountains, to rain at the Piva River. We had now arrived at Durmitor National Park, the largest national park in Montenegro. It was established in 1952 and is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. The park offers 50 peaks exceeding 2,000 meters, crystal-clear mountain lakes and rivers, and the deepest gorge in Europe. We spent the first 2 nights right on the Piva River. Fortunately, the rain had stopped after the first night, so we were able to go rafting on the Tara River. We encountered some rapids, but it was a relaxed day of paddling and enjoying the beautiful nature. The next morning, we had to wake up early because we had to drive 2 hours to Nevidio Gorge. We took a scenic panorama road where we could see various landscapes of the national park. We arrived near the gorge, put on a wetsuit, water socks, and shoes, and a helmet. Then the 4-hour adventure in the gorge, which was first discovered in 1965, began. We slid, climbed, swam, and jumped from various heights into the 12 degrees cold water. At the end, we had to climb for 40 minutes. It was a lot of fun but also quite exhausting. To conclude the tour, we had a delicious lunch and then we only had a 20-minute drive to the next accommodation.
