8th day after Sterzing

Last day of the official tour. We started at 8:45 after a bad breakfast. First, we continued on the small road that we already knew from yesterday. After 3 km, the relief came, a dirt road. Past a quarry, streams, meadows, and fields, relatively boring. Always slightly downhill. So we could run quickly and overtook some other groups. But overall, the tour was boring. No more scrambling, just rarely narrow paths.

After 12 km, we arrived in Wiesen where we drank a delicious latte macchiato in a nice hotel in the garden.

Then we walked the last stretch to Navi and that turned 15 km into 20 km. Finally, we arrived in Sterzing. So we successfully completed our alpine crossing at 2 pm!

Sterzing is a very nice place, very old, and we have a very nice hotel, the Steindl's.

After a short break, we went back into town, and at 4:45 pm, there was a city tour with a very nice South Tyrolean. All the hikers we met in the last week were there. Also Madi, the little dog who walked the entire way with us!

In the evening, we ate at the Kolping restaurant. Great pizza, delicious wine, and grappa. A successful conclusion.

Although we are considering doing an extra tour tomorrow 😬.
