After we were really tired from our sailing tour and fell asleep exhausted at night, I still had something in the back of my mind. Although we had already seen parts of the Great Barrier Reef from below, we also wanted to see it from ABOVE.
Said and done. Flight times and prices were checked and no time was wasted.
So we went to the local airport and at 12 o'clock it started with another German couple and a local. Everyone sat by the window and could enjoy the view. First we flew over lush green meadows and fields. Then we saw the Whitsunday Island from above again. Everywhere you looked there were green islands with white beaches and turquoise blue water. Here and there we saw fish and giant turtles ππ’ in the sea. Then we flew to the Outer Reef ...
And it was just UNBELIEVABLE !!!
Wherever you looked, you saw reefs, corals, fish and turquoise blue water ... We even saw sharks because the flight altitude was just under 900ft (about 270m). We were really impressed.
After we could still look around a little and didn't know where to look first, we returned.
Although the flight lasted 'only' about 1 hour, it made a lasting impression 100%.
For us an absolute MUST to see this World Heritage Site ...
