The day began with 3 hours of classes at St. Edward's School in Poole, Dorset. The rules were explained to the students that they are expected to follow. It was very interesting for the two teachers and me to see how the students accepted and implemented this. Without knowing the exact schedule of the school day, I have never experienced a classroom that was so quiet.
During the first brief chatter, there was a quick 'announcement' and then silence. Everyone tried hard to participate actively. There was also a discussion about the differences between the school systems in England and Germany, as well as about the monarchy. Secretly, all three of the accompanying adults wish that discipline and respect for the teacher continue to be upheld for a long time. True to the motto 'hope dies last', we left St. Edward's School for the day and proceeded to Stonehenge, passing by Salisbury Cathedral, which we will visit on Tuesday.
