Today we drive through Shoshone Indian territory again.
But we don’t see any!
We are moving steadily at almost 2000 m towards Nevada.
Passing by Great Falls
and through thunderstorms we drive through the Great Basin.
Too bad, we really have bad luck with the weather.
The road to Ely is described as the Loneliest Road in America. We totally believe that.
In the afternoon we reach Schellraiser. We have booked a container for tonight.
It can be seen from far away. A splash of color in the steppe.
Here, a festival takes place once a year, and we are welcomed by a real Hillybilly -Brian.
The container is much nicer than expected, and there is also a grill, so we will have steaks in the middle of nowhere tonight.
Jürgen's outfit fits perfectly with the container😉
With the weather, we have somewhat good luck; it is cold but dry, and the container cools down quite a bit.
The heating doesn’t work, and a small heater works so-so, so it will be a pretty cold night.
Good that we have bunk beds and can’t warm ourselves.🫣
But at an altitude of 2100 m, that should be fine.
Besides us, only one tent is rented, so it is super quiet here.
For that, we have a beautiful starry sky ✨
We don’t hear the coyotes that are supposed to howl here at night, but the view from the bunk beds is fantastic.
In the morning, you can see the full moon, and we actually have blue skies and sunshine, so we can have breakfast outside.
Our most beautiful accommodation of the trip was this one!!
Today we continue to Las Vegas, hopefully to the sun and warmth and below 1,000 m altitude.
On the way, we experience trucker races at their finest. They are all crazy.
In Las Vegas, we booked one night at the Santa Fe Station, but as it turns out, mistakenly for 2025🫣
We still get a room and enjoy the warmth by the pool.
