Asuncion

Published: 09.03.2020

Sunday 08.03.
Since we had an appointment at the cathedral in Asuncion at 12 o'clock, we started at 6 o'clock in Ciudad del Este. Before we even started, we had to realize that the navigation system and all the papers for the vans, including the import papers for South America, were stolen from one of the vans. Dino's tablet was also in this bag. Someone must have forgotten to lock a door, as there were no signs of a break-in. A search in the vicinity to see if the papers were thrown away by the thieves yielded nothing. An exterior camera of the hotel was able to record two suspicious individuals. Along the way, we could see termite mounds over and over again, which are abundant here.
We barely made it to the appointment in Asuncion. The cathedral was full of people, as it was Sunday morning mass. Seats were prepared for us in the altar area and we were greeted with applause. All available church dignitaries seemed to be present. Finally, the motorcycles were blessed by the Archbishop. Then we could move into our new quarters, this time in a Catholic seminary. Due to its proximity to the Brazilian Mato Grosso, the weather here has become unbearable. We had 38 degrees at 5:00 p.m., felt like 47 degrees according to the weather app. In the late evening, we found out that a person had been arrested due to the footage from the exterior camera, and Dino's tablet was also found. In the evening, we met with some bikers who had already greeted us at the cathedral in the morning and had a few beers.
