Well, the last day. Mixed feelings at the start, it's going to get hot again, so we start before 8 o'clock. On one hand, we want to get home quickly to escape the heat, on the other hand, we want to take a leisurely ride and enjoy the journey. From our little overnight coffee stop, we head back to the Neckar in Kirchentellinsfurt. It's a beautiful bike path and we zoom to Plochingen. There it's bye bye Neckar. In Reichenbach an der Fils, we take a coffee break. Just a quarter of an hour later, we leave the air-conditioned café and realize how hot it has become.
The closer you get to home, the clearer the differences between cycling and driving become. The Schurwald-Hubbel, which appears small by car, is already a real mountain by bike. However, the cyclist also has much more time to enjoy the views, smells, bird chirping, and plants along the way.
We quickly pass through Schorndorf on familiar paths, getting closer and closer to home. Along our beloved Wieslauf and finally, after 13 days and 869 kilometers, we are back home.
Grateful for so many things we have experienced, the encounters with people and equally grateful that we unpack the first aid kit, tools, and spare tubes unused from the bag. We would like to thank all blog readers very much for the good wishes we received via Facebook and WhatsApp.
