Hiking in Bymarka

Published: 19.08.2016

Hello dear ones! :)

yesterday was the first day of hiking! We were in the amazing area called Bymarka, which has many hiking trails. We headed towards a 'student hytta', which are small cabins that can be rented by members of the university sports club NTNUI. Here you can spend a weekend in the mountains and enjoy pure nature :) Because these cabins have no running water or electricity. However, we only completed a one-day hiking route and did not have the opportunity to stay overnight. But I'm sure I will experience this in the coming weeks! And I'm really looking forward to it! :)

At the beginning of the tour, everything was still pretty relaxed, the paths were continuously uphill, but doable. Towards the end of the 3 hours, the path became steeper and more like an off-road trail, which made us all sweat profusely :) However, the route passed many small lakes where you could also go swimming (like we did ;-))! Unfortunately, the water was still quite chilly and the fun didn't last very long :) But the cooling off felt good! The view also rewarded us enough for the last more challenging part.

On the hytta itself, thanks to the excellent organization of the International Office, we were able to enjoy and treat ourselves to delicious pancakes *yummiiihhh*

Unfortunately, time flew by and after 1.5 hours we had to start our way back! The weather was glorious and nobody really wanted to leave the idyllic place. On the descent, we took two more breaks at two lakes, where we also had the opportunity to collect delicious wild blueberries and raspberries. They grow abundantly here and on the ascent, we encountered several school classes who were also busy collecting :)

All in all, a beautiful first day of hiking here! I hope there will be many more to come! :)

Farewell!

Sabrina
